Job title
Social Worker – Adult Social Care (Cross Team Support)
Location
South Lakeland House, Kendal and Voreda House, Penrith
About this opportunity
We have opportunities to join our dedicated and supportive Social Worker Teams across Westmorland and Furness, as a Social Worker (Cross Service). You’ll be primarily based within one of the following service areas – Older Adults and Physical Disabilities, Safeguarding, or Care Homes – depending on your skills, interests, and the needs of the Service, covering either the South Lakes or Eden area. You will also provide flexible support to cover long‑term absences and help reduce agency usage, which may involve moving between teams as required.
You may additionally be deployed to support our Mental Health or Learning Disabilities Teams when needed. This cross‑service approach broadens your experience, supports professional development, and enables you to contribute across a diverse range of needs.
Join us as part of a committed, enthusiastic team of professionals who are passionate about achieving meaningful outcomes for the individuals and communities we serve.
Career grade
We apply a career grade system to our Social Worker roles, with starting salary depending on competencies, experience, and qualifications. We support staff to progress through the career grade in line with development against the requirements at each step.
We welcome applications from both newly qualified and experienced candidates for these roles, aiming to balance skills and experience across Adult Social Care teams.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a qualified, registered Social Worker with strong experience in adult services, confident case management skills, and the ability to make sound decisions in complex situations.
You’ll bring strong knowledge of legislation and best practice, work collaboratively with partners, communicate effectively, and create person‑centred solutions. If you’re organised, proactive, and committed to positive outcomes, you’ll thrive with us.
Our vision for Adult Social Care is: “People living in a place they call home with the people and things that they love, in communities where they look out for one another, doing the things that matter to them.”
We are looking for the right people with the right values and behaviours to join our teams across Adult Social Care. We’d like to hear more about you, your motivations, interests, and values on your application, including what attracted you to this role and how you feel your values align to the role.
