Role Overview
The Field CTO – Cloud & Applications is a senior, client-facing advisory role responsible for shaping executive-level conversations around cloud strategy, application modernisation and enterprise-scale managed services.
The role exists to influence, guide and elevate how enterprise clients think about cloud and application platforms transformation and also long-term managed capabilities. It helps clients connect technology decisions to business outcomes such as resilience, agility, cost optimisation and operational efficiency.
This role is a blend of technology leadership, executive advisory and pre-sales enablement, complementing sales, delivery and architecture teams by bringing clarity, confidence and direction to complex transformation and managed service discussions.
Core Expertise
* Cloud strategy and cloud managed services across AWS, Azure and GCP
* Enterprise cloud and application operating models, including run, optimise and evolve
* Application modernisation, rationalisation and lifecycle management
* Cloud-native architectures and platform engineering
* DevSecOps, CI/CD and developer productivity at scale
* Enterprise-scale application and digital managed services, including cost, reliability and performance optimisation
Key Responsibilities
Executive Advisory and Client Engagement
* Engage confidently with senior client stakeholders across enterprise accounts.
* Lead executive-level discussions on cloud strategy, application modernisation and managed service-led operating models
* Help clients articulate their challenges, priorities and transformation ambitions across both change and run agendas
* Act as a trusted advisor supporting sales-led pursuits, without assuming delivery ownership
Cloud, Application and Managed Services Leadership
* Provide thought leadership on:
* Application modernisation approaches including re-host, re-platform and re-architect
* Cloud-native architectures and enterprise cloud operating models
* Managed service models for cloud and applications, including service design, governance and optimisation
* Platform engineering, developer experience and modern software delivery practices
* Bring clarity to complex environments by balancing innovation with operational stability, security and cost
* Challenge traditional thinking where required, while remaining pragmatic and outcome-focused
Pre-Sales and Opportunity Shaping
* Work closely with Account Executives and sales leadership throughout the pre-sales lifecycle
* Support early-stage opportunity shaping by influencing problem definition, solution direction and managed service positioning
* Participate in key pursuits as an executive-level technology advisor
* Elevate conversations from tools and technologies to platforms, operating models and long-term service outcomes
* Maintain continuity of senior client relationships throughout the sales cycle
Thought Leadership and Market Positioning
* Develop and articulate a clear, opinionated point of view on cloud, applications and managed services evolution
* Represent the organisation in executive briefings, industry forums, roundtables and customer advisory sessions
* Contribute to external thought leadership through blogs, presentations and whitepapers
Internal Collaboration and Enablement
* Collaborate closely with Account Executives, architects and delivery leaders
* Provide strategic guidance without becoming part of day-to-day delivery
* Coach senior sales and technical stakeholders on positioning cloud and application managed services
* Ensure consistency of narrative, value proposition and messaging across pursuits
