JOB TITLE: Software Engineer (Security Data and AI)
SALARY: £48,987 – £54,430
LOCATION(S): Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, or Bristol
HOURS: Full-time – 35 hours per week
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, or Bristol office sites. Join our engineering team to contribute to the "Security Data and Artificial Intelligence" lab, a part of the "Chief Security Office" (CSO).

Software Engineers are part of a dynamic team, working on the design, development and maintenance of software applications. Working alongside expert engineers to help build high-quality solutions that drive real impact.
This role is all about hands on engineering – you’ll focus on writing phenomenal code, solving technical challenges, and continuously improving our applications.
What you’ll be doing
1. Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code while learning standard methodologies through code reviews and team discussions.
2. Work with senior engineers to understand project requirements, fix bugs, and build great software together.
3. Keep things running efficiently by maintaining and solving issues in applications.
4. Dive into root cause analysis, boost security, and make sure our software stays reliable.
5. Stay ahead of industry trends, sharpen your coding game, and grow in an agile environment.
6. Stay on top of live service support, keeping an eye out for bugs and making sure everything runs smoothly.
7. Maintain an open and adaptive outlook – constantly curious and willing to get involved in lab and platform activities.

What we’re looking for?
The ideal candidate is someone who has experience and technical knowledge with several of the following aspects. We don’t expect every aspect to be covered, and we offer the opportunity to learn at work as part of development opportunities.
8. Primary Programming Languages - Python, Bash scripting.
9. Experience with designing Agentic AI solutions, preferably in context to Cyber Security.
10. Quality Engineering – especially test automation.
11. Knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) or ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) design principles.
12. Understanding of Data Lifecycle.
13. Collaboration abilities, capable to persuading and coordinating varied teams towards a common goal.
14. Some experience of constructing secure systems while following enterprise security and compliance guidelines.
15. Ability to communicate a technical concept to a non-technical audience.
And any experience of these would be great
16. Experience in DevOps engineering, ideally GCP, but with a growth mindset if another cloud platform.
17. Knowledge of Kubeflow deployments or experience delivering platforms built for AI use cases e.g. through Vertex AI.
18. GCP Cloud Composer, GKE, Cloud Storage, Cloud Pub/Sub, Terraform, CI/CD using Harness, GitHub, Agile working.
