The Public Health Development Manager will be a member of the dynamic Public Health team. You will provide leadership and advocacy for health and wellbeing and support the development and implementation of policy and practice to reduce inequalities across Walsall. You will be required to work with staff, organisations, and community groups to build public health capacity across Walsall whilst targeting support to those in greatest need. The post holder will be responsible for many areas of work identified in the Public Health Work Plan, including supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of work. A primary focus of the role will be co-ordination of Walsall’s Tobacco Control Plan ( Tobacco Control Plan 2023-2027 ) and management of the NHS Health Checks programme. The post holder will work across a range of partners (e.g. Regulatory Services, Primary Care) to drive the development of both workstreams. They will be required to lead relevant local steering groups (e.g. Local Tobacco Control Alliance) shaping and influencing the actions of stakeholders ensuring strategic objectives are met. You will be expected to work in a matrix fashion, maintaining close links with staff in other teams and organisations who are working on related outcomes. You will bring specialist public health skills, competencies and knowledge that allow you to cross cover the work of other team members or pick up new areas of work where necessary.
