At Otter Vets, we’re proud to have cared for pets in Sidmouth and Ottery St Mary for over 150 years and we’re now looking for an experienced Small Animal Vet to join our friendly and passionate team.
Your Day, Your Space, Your Impact
This role is primarily based at our Sidmouth branch; you’ll also travel regularly to our Ottery St Mary site. The Sidmouth branch is undergoing modernisation, featuring a cosy reception, consult room, well-stocked dispensary, a large operating theatre, kennels and cattery, in-house lab, office space and a staff area. There are some elements of sole charge, so strong clinical skills are essential.
Caseload is a mix of cats and dogs, with a few small furries and occasional chicken. Days balance consultations and surgery, with dedicated admin time for notes. Surgeries are mainly routine (spays, castrates, lump removals and soft tissue procedures); orthopaedics can be referred if needed.
Facilities include digital X-ray, ultrasound, tonometer, and an IDEXX suite. You’ll be supported by our nurses who assist with both surgery and consults and run their own nurse clinics.

Flexibility That Works Around You
This is a full-time role, 40 hours per week over 4 or 5 days, with 1 in 4 Saturday mornings (8:30am–1pm) and no out-of-hours. We’re open to discussing part-time hours or flexible arrangements to fit you best.
Welcoming Team and Growth
You’ll join a close-knit team of 2 experienced vets, 4 RVNs and 4 support staff who collaborate to deliver high-quality care. There is room for mentoring or helping shape the next generation of vets and nurses, though this is not a requirement.
