About the role:
An opportunity has arisen for a Full Time Floor supervisor to join our Sample Reception team, based at 60 Whitfield Street/UCLH Site.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
• Responsible for the training of Medical Laboratory Assistants and other staff in the department
• To review and monitor the progress of staff in training, assess staff performance and take such action necessary to resolve any problems highlighted.
• To ensure that the sample reception team is technically trained fully to agreed standards.
• To manage/assess the technical performance and competency of the sample reception team and provide regular feedback to the Head of Department.
• To assess that staffing levels are adequate for maximum effective daily operation and encourage, support and motivate staff to deliver agreed service levels through training goals.
• To attend and participate in all laboratory management meetings to advise on all staff issues.
• To manage induction of all new staff as well as maintain competency assessments of settled staff.
The successful candidate should have some experience in an appropriate healthcare environment. Training and management interest or some experience in this. Good computer skills, good verbal & written communication skills, work well in a team and a flexible approach to both workload & task allocation.
The laboratory operates a 24/7 service so the successful candidate will be expected to participate in shifts to cover this period, according to departmental needs.
