Senior Physiotherapist, Band 6

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Senior Physiotherapist within our Trauma and Orthopaedic therapy team consisting of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and therapy support workers. We are looking for a dedicated, dynamic physiotherapist with experience, knowledge and skills in both trauma and orthopaedics to support the ongoing development of the therapy service in this specialist area.
This post gives the opportunity to actively participate and help lead service delivery change, with exciting developments within orthopaedics. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, motivated to develop their own skills and that of the service, providing high quality and evidence based therapy. We are looking for a dedicated, proactive, dynamic Physiotherapist to provide specialist knowledge and leadership experience whilst supporting flow and positive risk in a fast-paced environment.
The Therapy Department we pride ourselves on developing staff, staff are actively encouraged to participate in R&D, service development and Q.I initiatives within this role.
This post will actively contribute to the service delivery of the new Orthopaedic Ambulatory Pathway, regularly completing audits and data analysis to inform further service development.
This post will be cross site, covering both Cheltenham General Hospital and Gloucester Royal Hospital providing the exciting opportunity to work within both trauma and elective orthopaedics.
Main duties of the job
The post holder assumes responsibility for the day-to-day management of the clinical area, in the absence of the team leader.
The post holder is supervised by a named therapist, who may not be present at all times. Clinical and professional supervision is in the form of regular clinical reasoning sessions, observed practice, peer review and formal training.
The post holder will link with the Band 7 clinical lead therapist to support the use of resources within budget. The level of managerial responsibility involves the supervision and appraisal of junior therapists, support workers and undergraduates, with the support of the Band 7.
When performing on call duties, staff must be available on the ward within 45 minutes of the call.* For staff living more than 45 minutes from the hospital, a designated on-call room for overnight stay is available in GRH and is free of charge. This room can be used by staff at both sites.

Person Specification
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
* Degree/diploma in Physiotherapy
* Registered with the Health & Care Professions Council
* Experience of working in the NHS in the UK
* Experience of supervising, appraising, and providing education/training to others
* Deliver a high level of skill in assessment and management of complex patients.
* Demonstrate excellent communication skills, verbal, non-verbal and written when interacting with patients/carers, other team members and the MDT.
* Knowledge of and ability to apply and utilise evidence-based practice, including National guidelines to deliver, evaluate and audit the service.
* Demonstrate the ability to network with other professionals and set up close working relations
* Work flexibly in response to the changing demands of the service and manage changes in service delivery in self and others.
* Work flexibly in response to the change.
* Have an understanding of the principles of physiotherapy as well as occupational therapy in order to contribute to the development of an integrated therapy service.
* Drive a trust owned or privately owned vehicle with or without patients and /or escort present and /or equipment locally, except if disability or medical condition preclude driving.ing demands of the service and manage changes in service delivery in self and others
