This fellowship offers advanced surgical training in hand and upper limb surgery. It is suitable for post-Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) surgeons with FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics) or equivalent, including overseas applicants, seeking further experience in Upper Limb Surgery with the aim of pursuing a consultant post in this specialty. Applicants in training must include written approval from their Postgraduate Dean and Director of Training with their application.
The position is a 12-month fixed-term contract starting February 2026. Candidates must retain their training number and apply for unpaid leave for out-of-programme training through their current deanery. Applications are invited from individuals who have completed their CCT in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery.
The successful candidate will work with six Upper Limb Consultants, assisting in elective clinics and conducting supervised solo clinics for new and follow-up patients. The fellow will participate in theatre approximately 3-4 sessions per week, performing procedures under supervision, with increasing independence as experience grows. One session per week is allocated for clinically based research, supervised by a designated Consultant.
We welcome all new colleagues warmly. Our staff are described as "competent and caring" by patients.
