This team-oriented position involves joining one of our Water Services Teams to ensure the water supply process delivers wholesome drinking water to our customers. You will be responsible for maintaining all equipment at our Water Treatment Works, ensuring it operates correctly and reliably. Enthusiasm for planned maintenance and prompt response to issues and incidents is essential. Your mechanical knowledge will enable you to oversee the day-to-day operation and maintenance of water supply assets, including equipment at water treatment works, reservoirs, towers, and pumping stations.
Your ability to learn quickly and use initiative to solve problems is crucial. You will train alongside an experienced Technician to gain the necessary skills and knowledge. Candidates should have completed an apprenticeship, NVQ Level 2, and hold a relevant ONC/BTEC qualification.
The starting salary ranges from £34,000 to £38,000 depending on skills and qualifications, with potential to earn up to £44,000 with additional training and experience. A flexible approach to working hours is required due to standby rota duties, which necessitate living within the surrounding or neighboring areas. Responsibilities include planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical assets such as pumps, screens, mixers, and chemical dosing systems, as well as working on water quality instruments and control systems, including servicing and calibrations. The role also involves working towards a Licence to Operate Qualification to manage and control multiple complex water treatment works.
