Job Summary
Senior Pharmacy Technician - Homecare & Infection Services is sought to join our pharmacy team. This specialist role manages HIV homecare medicines and supports medicines management across infection services and other specialist areas. You will provide expert advice on homecare medicines and processes to patients, carers, and homecare contractors, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective use of medicines. The postholder will lead on training and development for HIV homecare, support medicines management across multiple clinical areas, and contribute to audits and governance activities within the Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive pharmacy technician with strong leadership skills and a passion for improving patient care through innovative medicines management.
Main duties / Responsibilities
* End-to-end oversight of HIV homecare medicine management and processing.
* Supporting homecare services in other specialist areas alongside the Lead Technician - Homecare.
* Delivering specialist advice and training to pharmacy staff and healthcare professionals.
* Providing medicines management support to infection services and a range of wards.
* Supporting the Principal Pharmacist Infection Services in expenditure and reports for infection services.
* Line management of staff, including appraisals and one-to-one meetings.
* Developing training packs, policies, and audits to improve medicines management.
* Maintaining ACPT accreditation and providing technical support to dispensary and satellite pharmacies.

Additional Information
This is a full-time post, and the postholder will be required to participate in weekend working and late duties as per rota. You may also be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work.

Essential education/qualifications:

* Registered with the GPHC
* Accredited medicines management/optimisation course
* Accredited Checking Technician
* Evidence of CPD
* Desirable: Completion of recognised management course
* Practice supervisor/Education supervisor/NVQ Assessor

Essential knowledge and experience:
* Hospital pharmacy experience
* Knowledge of medicines management initiatives
* Experience of line management/leading teams
* Experience of audits
* Desirable: Knowledge of CMM/Cerner
