We are looking to recruit a motivated Assistant Bridge Engineer to join our consultancy bridges and highways structures team. This is a varied role where you will be involved in delivering design, assessment, and inspection projects for our client in Norfolk. The role provides exposure to a variety of projects, from minor maintenance schemes through to major bridge design and strengthening works, offering excellent opportunities for career growth and professional development. Your Team All our Engineers take on project responsibility from the outset, invariably owning their projects from conception to construction. Your role will be at the heart of our high performing team, using your skills and expertise to help us continue driving forward regarding both technical quality and service efficiency. Your role will include: Being based in the heart of the vibrant and historic city of Norwich, working in partnership with Norfolk County Council (NCC). Assisting Engineers in the design and analysis of highway structures, using Eurocodes and DMRB standards. Supporting in the production of bridge assessments and feasibility studies. Participating in inspections and prepare technical reports. Prepare drawings, specifications, and cost estimates. Support tender preparation and bid development. Liaise with clients and stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered to programme and budget. Working with our Client and design teams to deliver compliant designs on time and within budget and meeting H&S, CDM, QA and technical review requirements. Attending site to gather information and supervise schemes. What we will be looking for you to demonstrate… A degree (or equivalent equivalent qualification) in Civil or Structural Engineering. Knowledge of bridge/structural engineering principles and design codes (e.g. Eurocodes, DMRB, BD standards). Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills. Knowledge in design, maintenance and supervision of bridge related projects Proficient in relevant software (e.g. AutoCAD, structural analysis/design packages). Good communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Knowledge of Construction Design Management 2015 and associated duties. You will have the opportunity to work under a training agreement and will progress towards Incorporated and Chartered Status of a recognised engineering body. You will fulfil a pivotal role in completing projects that deliver real benefit to people’s lives. Full UK driving licence (or willingness to obtain). Don’t quite meet all the criteria?
