Overview
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Deputy Manager and Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join our friendly nursery team on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave.
Start date & future opportunities:
The role will begin in January 2026, allowing for a handover period before maternity leave starts in February. While this is a fixed-term post, there may be opportunities for a permanent role within the nursery after the maternity cover ends (which could be an alternative position, depending on future staffing needs and the successful candidate's interests).
Duties
* As Deputy Manager and SENCO, you will:
-Support the Nursery Manager with the day-to-day running of the nursery
-Take a lead role in ensuring high-quality provision in line with the EYFS
- Act as SENCO, working closely with children, families, and external agencies to provide inclusive practice and tailored support
-Supervise, mentor, and inspire staff to maintain excellent standards of care and education
-Ensure safeguarding and health & safety are embedded in daily practice
We are looking for someone who:
* Holds a full and relevant Level 3 qualification in Early Years (minimum; Level 5+ desirable)
* Has previous experience in a leadership or SENCO role within early years
* Demonstrates excellent knowledge of the EYFS, SEND Code of Practice, and safeguarding procedures
* Is enthusiastic, organised, and committed to inclusive practice
* Can build strong relationships with children, families, and staff

Contract length: 11 months
Pay: £14.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 35 per week
