Assistant Team Manager - Hope House

In your first three months as Assistant Team Manager you will be required to work three shifts per month (24 hour shift) to gain a full understanding of Hope House and the children's requirements. You will receive overtime, on call allowance or sleep in rate for this.

Hope House is a therapeutic children's home providing day-to-day care for up to five children aged 10-17 who have experience significant trauma in their early lives. Grounded firmly within the Secure Base model, our team is dedicated to providing a nurturing environment where young people can thrive. We are currently seeking a dedicated Assistant Team Manager to join our service.

About the role

The role of a Assistant Team Manager will assist with leading, managing and motivating a team ensuring the service provided is consistent, effective and delivers positive outcomes.

The main duties of an Assistant Team Manager is to:

2. Ensure each child is safeguarded and oversee any issues that arise to ensure they are dealt with according to appropriate timescales and providing professional leadership on safeguarding issues.
3. Maintain a protective environment for the young people who have suffered forms of abuse and to develop ways in which they are able to trust adults, supporting staff to do the same.
4. To work within a model of understanding how trauma and abuse impacts attachment and subsequently, how this affects a child.
5. Ensuring that each member of staff is aware of each child’s placement plan and their responsibilities for its implementation.
6. Undertaking direct work with young people and acting as an appropriate role model.
7. Assist in developing systems in which young people are consulted about the quality of care they receive.
8. To deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager.
9. To assist in managing child protection concerns and complaints.
10. To offer supervision and support to senior staff in line with Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.

About you

The successful candidate will have:

11. Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or Equivalent (for example NVQ level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People)
12. Diploma Level 5 in Residential Management (desirable)
13. A sound knowledge of child care and child development, developed through working directly with children and young people
14. Experience of working with young people in a residential care setting
15. Excellent working knowledge and understanding of current child care legislation
16. Some experience in the management and supervision of staff
