Hyper Luminal Games is seeking an exceptional 3D Environment Artist to join their talented Art department. You’ll be responsible for delivering expertly designed art assets, built to the highest standard, ready for integration into various contexts and pipelines across the studio. You are encouraged to be as good as you can be and there are systems in place within the studio to support you to do just that. Incremental improvement is our aim and all team members are involved in how that evolves. Experience Essential 2 years experience working as a professional 3D Artist with a minimum of 1 shipped game. Proven experience of creating 3D environments via a supporting portfolio. Experience with the full suite of modelling and texturing tools in Autodesk Maya. Experience with the full 3D pipeline from sculpt, through retopology and texturing to final engine implementation. Proven familiarity with Substance painter and ZBrush. Core Unity knowledge for asset implementation. Proven experience with 3D environment/level kits, ideally modular. Desirable Unity engine proficiency. Shader and VFX authoring experience. Demonstrable awareness of the pipelines that directly surround 3D; namely design, concept, code and animation. Demonstrable familiarity with project management tools such as JIRA or Trello. Proven experience with version control software, especially Perforce and Sourcetree. Skills and Abilities The desire and ability to create game-ready, beautiful environments to deadline and internal quality standards. Great visual style adaptability to satisfy the range of projects employed across both our studio in-house style and client output. The ability to take on board feedback and iterate positively; in addition to diagnosing issues and feedback meaningfully on other team member’s work. Ability to translate concept art into fully realised, game ready assets. Highly motivated and productive; a self-starter with creative initiative. Invention skills: where appropriate, have the ability to logically and creatively solve gameplay issues with clarifying visuals and player firmly in mind. Ensure excellent file organisation within scenes and across project folder structure. Top notch planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise your own workload and meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members at all levels, both written and verbally. Can adapt well to new processes and pipelines and helps to further improve existing ones through field testing and robust documentation. Good sense of 3D industry standards. Duties and Tasks Meet or exceed the project deliverables in a timely manner and to internal quality. Building quality content within the technical requirements of the target platform. Presenting your work daily to senior staff for feedback and executing fully on the next iteration. Team player: deliver practical guidance and support to the next layer of team members within the art team on a weekly basis. Leading by example in process, output and professionalism. Work closely across departments and development phases to continuously assess and advise on best practice for the 3D pipeline. Where necessary, consulting with clients to understand the work required for tasks. Attend Daily team and project stand-ups and ensure that you understand the department goals for the coming day. Helping organise and execute the burn down of the team’s art tasks, using Jira and working with the 3D Lead, 3D Principal, Art Manager and Studio Producer to meet project deadlines.
