Overview
Job title: Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist (Palliative Care). This post involves providing expert specialist palliative care advice, including complex physical, psychological and emotional needs, and education to clinical colleagues, patients and their families. There is an opportunity for personal and professional development following a Core Competency Framework. The post-holder will contribute to the development and support of junior staff through formal and informal training.

Travelling between Bradford Royal Infirmary and St Luke\'s Hospital is required, and the role involves a 7 day face-to-face service pattern.
Responsibilities
The post-holder will be responsible for the management of a defined caseload and will provide highly specialist nursing/midwifery support, advice, education and/or care to that group. They will assess care needs, develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care, and set standards of care. The post-holder will take a lead role in establishing evidence-based education and practice within the Palliative Care Team, and will support and develop junior staff and learners.
Additional duties include contributing to professional development, education and training across the team and wider workforce, and working within a 7-day service framework across two sites.

Job Description and Requirements
The post holder must be a Registered Nurse with significant experience in Specialist Palliative Care. The post holder will possess a teaching qualification and IT skills. Possession of a relevant post-registration qualification is essential. Applicants need to be in possession of, or working towards, a degree level in nursing or equivalent.
Essential qualifications and experience include:
* Appropriate NMC Registration (RGN)
* Relevant specialist qualification or training to diploma level or equivalent
* Supporting Learning in Clinical Practice (SLIP) or equivalent
* Degree or equivalent level of education or experience
* Advanced communication skill training
Desirable:
* Leadership or management development qualification
* Non-medical prescribing qualification

Experience (Essential):
* Significant current post-registration experience in a relevant clinical specialty
* Experience of assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care
* Experience of MDT working and cross-boundary collaboration
* Experience of leading in policy development and in clinical audit/research
* Experience of leading change and innovative practice
