Bring Essex & Suffolk Water to Life in Your Community
Become a Community Engagement Ambassador
At Essex & Suffolk Water, we're passionate about delivering an exceptional experience to every customer — making sure every voice is heard, every need is met, and every interaction counts. We're out in our communities every day, building trust, offering support, and inspiring positive change in how people use water.
If you're energetic, approachable, and love connecting with people, this could be the perfect role for you.
The Role
As a Community Engagement Ambassador, you'll be the friendly face of Essex & Suffolk Water, out and about engaging with customers, community groups, and local businesses. Reporting to the Customer Experience Lead, you'll help customers understand our services, overcome concerns about metering, and encourage lasting behaviour change around water use.
Based in Suffolk (Lound), you'll spend most of your time in the field, working directly within communities and at local events (including some weekends, especially during summer). Occasionally, you may travel to Essex or other Northumbrian Water Group sites — travel costs will be covered.
A full UK driving licence is essential, as you'll be driving our new engagement vehicle (don't worry, full training will be provided).
What You'll Do
* Be the expert: Develop a strong understanding of our services — from metering and billing to water efficiency, financial support, and community initiatives.
* Plan and deliver events: Organise and host a calendar of community activities using our engagement tools and vehicles, creating memorable, positive experiences for customers.
* Engage and influence: Communicate confidently with customers, stakeholders, and businesses — answering questions, raising awareness, and inspiring sustainable water use.
* Listen and learn: Gather insights and feedback to help shape our future communications and improve the overall customer journey.
What You'll Bring
* A genuine passion for helping people and improving communities
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Creativity and confidence to deliver engaging events
* A proactive, adaptable approach to work in fast-paced environments.
Rewards & Benefits
* Generous defined contribution pension scheme with up to 10% company contribution
* Access to 24/7 digital GP
* All tools, PPE and company uniform supplied
* Annual health screening process
* Cycle to work scheme
* Discount portal
* Wellbeing support
* Paid time to take part in community events
