About the Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior/Principal Hydrologist with experience of UK hydrological methods to join our engaging, multi-disciplinary team in Peterborough to help deliver a variety of studies across the water management sector, including flood risk management, reservoir engineering, habitat creation, low flow and water resource studies and environmental impact assessments for major infrastructure projects in the UK and potentially overseas.
As a member of our Water and Catchment Management team you will play a key role within a multi-disciplinary team that is operating nationally for clients such as the Environment Agency, Local Authorities and for the utilities sector as well as internationally. Your role will include tasks such as:
1. Applying UK Flood Hydrology methods as described in the Flood Estimation Handbook
2. Undertaking hydrological analysis for low flow estimation and water resource studies
3. Analysing, managing, and interpreting data using GIS software (ArcGIS, MapInfo, QGIS) and analytical tools (R and Python).
4. Contributing your own innovative ideas, challenging the norm, and helping us all deliver better solutions for our clients.
5. Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver client outcomes.
6. Writing and reviewing technical reports to convey key messages, derived from complex technical documentation, in a simple and clear manner.
7. Contributing to an engaged and supportive team environment with active involvement in mentoring and professional development (of self and others).
8. Developing technical scopes, supporting programme and budget-setting, and gaining approvals.
9. Helping us to win new work and supporting the management of our projects and teams.
