In response to significant client demand and a strong infrastructure opportunity pipeline, the AECOM programme management advisory and delivery teams are seeking to grow across all grades.
We are currently hiring a Senior Programme Manager to work independently or with a Director to successfully shape, develop, initiate and deliver client investment and business change programmes. In our newly established regional team in the South West of England, you will deliver transformative infrastructure and engineering projects while combining international best practice with local expertise.
You will support programme advisory and delivery commissions across the entire programme lifecycle, including definition, delivery model and organisational design, readiness, maturity assessments, management, and PMO design/implementation. T
Responsibilities
* Develop and deliver regional programmes aligned with sector and client priorities.
* Lead, mentor, and grow a newly established programme management function and diverse team, promoting technical and professional development.
* Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement within the new regional function/team.
* Support the team in delivering its strategic goals in relation to capability, growth, and commercial targets.
* Lead or support the delivery of significant, complex programme management advisory or delivery commissions involving multidisciplinary teams and diverse stakeholder groups.
* Ensure commissions are managed and delivered to appropriate quality standards and commercial expectations.
* Ensure a robust approach to risk identification, evaluation, and mitigation is applied to all commissions.
* Demonstrate leadership in the implementation of AECOM health, safety and environment requirements.
* Develop strong relationships with clients and members of cross‑functional teams to support successful delivery.
* Identify and act upon business development opportunities with existing and new clients, including cross‑selling opportunities.
* Lead and support the development of proposals through the entire bid process.
* Ensure all direct reports are engaged, developed and supported along their own career journeys.
* Identify opportunities to share knowledge and best practice, promoting the team internally and externally with clients and relevant industry bodies.
Qualifications
* Experience in public and private sector infrastructure, aviation, energy, rail, water, and related sectors preferred.
* Complex, multi‑disciplinary programme and PMO management experience.
* Proven track record for delivery.
* Key skills including leadership, strategy development, relationship management, complex problem solving, and insight.
* Management consulting experience.
* Demonstrable client engagement at senior levels.
* Experience in client management – able to manage live programmes while seeking new opportunities.
* Line management experience in a comparative consultancy business.
* Highly motivated with an excellent industry network.
* Ability to work across service lines, with a track record of cross‑selling.
* Commercial experience is essential, with a proven track record of winning and retaining new clients.
* Proven experience in programme management within engineering/construction, ideally in the South‑West of England and Wales.
Qualifications / Criteria
* Degree level education, ideally project or programme management, construction, or engineering.
* Chartership (ChPP) or an APM accreditation (or willingness to work towards achieving).
* Managing Successful Programmes accredited (or international equivalent) is preferred.
* Experience using business information tools is preferred.
