Offer description

We are looking for an upbeat and empathetic Support Worker to join our community support team in Kinson, Bournemouth.

Due to the needs of the person we support, we can only consider male candidates with experience with Autism or Complex Care, supporting people on a 2:1 basis.

You will need to have a Full UK driving license, however, access to your own vehicle is not essential.

Please note: Autism Unlimited does not provide visa sponsorship

The role

We’re looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic person to join our team in supporting Archie, a young man in his twenties who lives in Kinson.

Archie communicates using Sign-along and a range of alternative tools, including PECS, to help express his needs and choices. He thrives with a well-structured daily routine that balances fun, comfort, and personal growth.

As part of Archie’s support team, you could be involved in:

* Scenic drives through the New Forest or trips to the beach
* Enjoying music, solving puzzles, or baking tasty treats
* Weekend visits with his family, complete with a takeaway dinner and watching a musical or Strictly Come Dancing

We’re always looking for new ways to help Archie engage with and be a part of his local community.

At the core of our service is a commitment to promoting independence. We believe a calm, empathetic, and encouraging team is key to helping Archie live a fulfilling and empowered life.

A day in the life of a Support Worker would include:

* Sharing your skills and life knowledge with the people we support to enable good life skills and independence when living in the community
* Maintaining consistent and accurate records regarding care plans, finances, appointments, and medication
* Following the support plan for each person we support to enable the person to feel comfortable and happy, adapting this as required based on changes in behavior
* Providing some elements of personal care, including personal hygiene prompts, helping to bathe and wash, and medication support

Hours:

Shifts will vary between 7am – 10pm Monday to Sunday on a two-week rolling rota.

This role would include working alternate weekends and sleep-ins (sleep-ins come with an additional payment).

* A rewarding job, full of variety and opportunities for career development
* A generous employee referral scheme – you can earn £400 for each person you successfully refer!
* 12-week induction programme including in-house training, e-learning, shadowing, coaching, and mentoring.
* The opportunity to complete an accredited qualification after passing your probation period.
* Access to an internal learning portal to enhance your skills and knowledge in areas of interest.
* Cycle to work scheme
* Bespoke learning and development in key areas such as total communication, positive behavior techniques, and sign language
* Up to 33 days of annual leave pro-rata (including bank holidays)
* Benefits portal offering discounts at shops, restaurants, and days out, along with cashback healthcare plans for optical and dental care.
* A 24-hour Employee Assistance Programme providing support on issues like money management, family, and legal matters.
