Principal Electrical Engineer (ETAP experience) – Contract – West Wales / Hybrid
Location: West Wales / Hybrid
This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading engineering business during a period of continued growth as they support the Oil & Gas, and Renewable Energy sectors. Supporting the development of a major greenfield, green energy plant and will suit engineers who have previous site experience in addition to purely design.
The successful person must have ETAP experience.
The role can be hybrid but will require at least 2 days p/w in the client offices in West Wales.
Role & Responsibilities
· Undertake design and checking of deliverables according to discipline and area of expertise.
· Preparation and checking of deliverables including drawings, schedules, datasheets, specifications, (input to control philosophies and narratives if applicable) for MV and HV equipment.
· Wiring diagrams, control logic diagrams, system descriptions, system calculations, 1-line and 3-line AC drawings, AC & DC schematics, equipment sizing and perform cable sizing calculations.
· Using ETAP for successful delivery of project milestones.
· CompEx 12 is desirable but not essential.
· The role will also involve regular site visits to inspect and report on design specifications and the overall requirements needed to ensure key engineering deliverables.
· Supporting FAT and SATs.
· Participation in design review, 3D Model Reviews, Value Engineering, Risk Management workshops,
· Design and testing of simulation software devices for complete project simulation.
· Responsible for engineering design and assessment in line with client expectations as well as supporting others within the team.
Key Skills & Knowledge
· Must be degree qualified, chartered status desired but not essential.
· Experience of designing electrical equipment, preferably in an energy industry environment.
· ETAP experience is essential.
· CompEx 12 is highly desirable but not essential.
· Previously worked on design projects in the Oil & Gas, Petrochem, or Renewable Energy industries.
· Previous hydrogen project experience is highly advantageous.
· Experience of electrical equipment and its application in conventional and safety applications.
· Previous site experience in conjunction with a design background beneficial
