Mechanical Maintenance Technician

NHS Grampian’s Facilities and Estates Service plays a vital role in supporting the safe, effective and continuous (24/7) delivery of high-quality care to patients, staff and the public across all NHS Grampian sites.

We are currently looking for a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician (Band 5) with hands-on practical experience to join our Estates Department.

This post is based at the Foresterhill Campus, providing mechanical maintenance support across NHS Grampian properties.

The Role

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary estates team and will be involved in the maintenance, inspection, and repair of a wide range of mechanical systems, including:

* Pressure systems
* Ventilation and HVAC systems
* Industrial plant and associated equipment
* Boiler house plant and systems

Experience in one or more of these areas would be advantageous.

The Candidate

You should have completed a UK-recognised apprenticeship in one of the following disciplines:

* Mechanical Engineering
* HVAC / Ventilation
* Pipe Fitting

Applicants should have a strong hands-on technical background, be able to work effectively as part of a team, and demonstrate a commitment to safety and high standards of workmanship.

While specific NHS experience is not essential, training will be provided to candidates who can demonstrate relevant practical skills and technical knowledge

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
