Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The Engineering Technician plays a key role in supporting Gates' product development and material change projects for industrial belts. You will analyse customer and test centre belt returns, lead investigative activities, and support the creation and maintenance of material and product specifications.
Working closely with global PDG teams, quality assurance, and applications engineering, you will contribute to customer-specific projects, ensuring robust testing, validation, and commercialisation of new solutions. This is a highly collaborative, technical role with the opportunity to engage with global customers and suppliers while helping to shape the next generation of Gates products.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage material change projects, including CRB reviews, QA liaison on customer PPAPs, and commercialisation.
* Analyse belts from field tests and test centres, identifying failure modes using photography, microscopy, and test data.
* Organise testing activities, maintain databases, and prepare timely reports in line with PDG procedures.
* Support development sample builds, belt/material specification updates, and benchmarking activities.
* Participate in customer-specific and global product development projects from concept through validation.
* Collaborate with QA, engineering, and customer focus teams to meet deadlines and project requirements.
* Ensure compliance with ISO standards (ISO9001, IATF and Gates' HSE rules.
* Liaise with suppliers to support new material technologies.

Requirements And Preferred Skills
* 8-10 years of experience
* Higher-level education or equivelant including Maths, English, and technical subjects (Science or Engineering preferred).
* Background in materials, testing, or mechanical engineering desirable.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to evaluate results and recommend solutions.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
* Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
* Highly organised with ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
* Collaborative, with strong interpersonal and communication skills across all levels.
* Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working independently or within a global team.
