Job introduction
Brighton and Hove City Council are recruiting experienced and enthusiastic tradespeople for our Housing Repairs and Maintenance Team.

About the role
You will perform high-standard glazing repairs and refurbishment activities, ensuring excellent customer service and compliance with safety, quality, and cost standards.
Work will mainly be in occupied properties within Brighton and Hove, either independently or in small teams. Key tasks include:
* Measuring and Ordering Glass: Accurately measure spaces and order glass for windows, doors, and partitions.
* Installing Glass: Fit glass into frames and fixtures using appropriate tools.
* Removing and Replacing Damaged Glass: Safely remove old or broken glass and replace it, disposing of waste properly.
* Sealing and Weatherproofing: Apply sealants and putty to ensure watertight and weather-resistant installations.
* Handling Various Materials: Work with traditional glass, plastics, laminates, and safety glass.
* Using Tools and Equipment: Operate hand tools, power tools, and cranes with suction cups for large panes.
* Reading Technical Drawings: Interpret plans for accurate installation.
* Health and Safety Compliance: Follow regulations, risk assessments, and safe working practices, especially at heights or with hazardous materials.
* Maintenance and Repairs: Conduct routine and emergency repairs on council properties.
* Customer Interaction: Communicate effectively with tenants and staff to coordinate work.

Additional information
Your salary will be pro-rata if part-time or term-time only. Overtime pay applies only for hours exceeding 37 hours per week. The starting salary ranges between £31,067 and £32,654, pro-rata.
