Part-Time Personal Assistant @ £15.00/hr in Leeds
Pay rate: £15 per hour. Hours: part-time, variable/flexible to provide cover when my usual Personal Assistants are not available. Location: West Park, North Leeds. Requirements: own car & driving licence, being able to lift and fit a wheelchair in the car.
I am a man, 66 years old, recovering from a serious illness, seeking a personal assistant. I am in fragile health, easily fatigued and breathless and my walking ability is limited, so I use an electric wheelchair.
The role involves ensuring my safety and supervision, keeping my daily schedule (e.g., meals on time, taking me out at certain times before I get tired, etc.). The role also involves providing general housekeeping: cooking lunch (main meal), preparing afternoon snack and an evening meal, cleaning, hoovering, dusting, changing my bed, laundry, etc., plus making phone calls on my behalf, answering emails, assisting with planning and decision making, food shopping independently or occasionally with me, picking up medication, laundrette drop-offs and pick-ups, accompanying me to hospital appointments, daily 'fresh air' outings, going out for coffee or meal, taking me out on short trips in my car, accompanying me to church and helping with daily chores and responsibilities that may arise. I can manage short outings for up to max 1-2 hours including travel time.
Applicants should be prepared to provide personal care if required, but this is not anticipated to be part of routine work. My wheelchair weighs 10kg so physical ability to lift it in and out of a car boot is essential.
There is scope for more days and more hours once a good working relationship is established. Ideally my PA would also be available to stay overnight as a live-in carer to provide respite for occasional days, or up to a week, for my partner (who is my main carer). I am immunocompromised so I need someone with excellent hygiene standards for food preparation, hand hygiene and general cleanliness of the flat.
My interests include classical, pop and folk music, film, cooking (which I can't do at the moment), outdoors, and reading.
I am looking for a friendly, responsible and reliable person who can fully understand my situation and health limits/risks, who can be professional and thorough in their work, knows how to manage their schedule efficiently - juggle all duties on the day while making sure all my needs are met efficiently.
