Junior IT Infrastructure Architect
Programme Name: LCST
Location: Bristol
The Role:
The role of the Junior IT Infrastructure Architect is to collaborate with senior architects and engineers to design, implement, and support the organization’s IT infrastructure changes. This includes developing and deploying network, hardware and software solutions that enable the service to function efficiently and securely, while also providing scalability and flexibility for future growth.
Additionally, the Junior IT Infrastructure Architect is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the IT infrastructure, ensuring security, performance, and compliance with contract commitments and organizational standards. You will evaluate existing systems, work with vendors to select hardware and software, and ensure that systems are secure and efficient.
This position requires strong technical knowledge and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Responsibilities
Build and Maintain LLD (Low Level Design) documentation content for all changes in the IT infrastructure
Co-ordinate and Lead implementation of IT infrastructure policies and procedures by working with engineers
Develop and implement IT infrastructure security policies and procedures
Conduct research and recommend new technologies and systems
Work with Implementation teams to make sure IT architecture is properly implemented
Provide technical guidance and direction to project teams in collaboration with senior architects
Develop deployment strategies and implementation plans for large-scale projects
Develop and implement operational processes for managing and maintaining infrastructure components
Skills
Interpret business requirements to develop technical solutions
Ability to analyse and translate from concepts into formalized and concrete Architectural artefacts
Ability to work with complexity and multiple workstreams simultaneously in large-scale infrastructure projects
High level experience of working in Operational Service Management/Change Management/ Configuration Management environment
Ability to lead, inspire and mentor members of the infrastructure team as well as other technical teams to ensure successful project delivery
Create and maintain technical documentation both written and diagrammatic
Experience in Visio, Confluence or equivalence, Excel and any model-based system engineering documentation and applications
Significant knowledge of systems and IT engineering principles
Ability to manage multiple stakeholders both internal and external
Aptitude for developing innovative solutions to infrastructure challenges
Ability to support project managers and shape project delivery processes
Technologies
Cloud compute, storage and networking, covering a wide range of hardware manufacturers.
Compute – EC2, ECS, Lambda
Storage – EBS, EFS, FSX, S3
Network – NGINX, Security Groups, Load Balancers
Operating Systems
Various Windows Server technology
Various Linux server technologies, including Red Hat.
Databases including Oracle and MS SQL.
Basic awareness not necessarily practical experience of
CI/CD DevOps, including Jenkins, Bitbucket, Terraform, Ansible,
Traditional managed hosting network concepts and related technology, including the role of firewalls, network switches, load-balancers, layer 3/4 and layer 7 traffic management, VLANs, NAT, server hosting.

Pay Range:
Pay Range £47,500.00 - £71,557.50
