Principal Biodiversity Net Gain Specialist (UK)
Location: Manchester, Basingstoke, Croydon, Bristol, Cambridge, Liverpool, Newcastle, Nottingham, Birmingham (and other UK locations considered).
Hybrid working model. The role focuses on delivering biodiversity net gain (BNG) assessments for large infrastructure projects across the UK.
Responsibilities
* Work on delivery of ecological BNG inputs for internal and external clients.
* Produce and technically review biodiversity assessments, including BNG feasibility and design stage reports, NBB assessments and BNG assessments.
* Collaborate with the BNG lead for UK & I to develop the BNG vision across the UK.
* Upskill ecologists across the business.
* Support consultation and engagement with clients and key stakeholders, including planning authorities, statutory bodies and the public.
* Play a key role in developing technical capabilities and encourage the embedding of innovation and research.
* Work closely with digital and data teams to develop digital biodiversity tools.
* Lead the production of bids and tenders for ecological and BNG services.
* Mentor and support junior staff and peers.
Qualifications
* Degree (or equivalent) in ecology or a related subject, with membership of an appropriate professional institution.
* Experience leading BNG assessments on large‑scale infrastructure projects.
* Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation and policy.
* Experience interpreting UKHabs data and Habitat Condition Assessments.
* Experience reviewing technical work, supporting team members, and bidding/tendering.
