Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our team at HMP Rochester, a Cat C mens prison. Join a supportive, driven family that works Monday to Friday/Sunday, creating a safe and nurturing environment. As a Mechanical Engineer you will work alongside experienced and passionate colleagues – from Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, to Cleaners and Administrators – dedicated to making a positive difference for prisoners, staff and visitors.
Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Engineer you will:
* Contribute to the smooth and safe operation of the prison’s facilities maintenance team, ensuring all mechanical systems are reliable and compliant with health and safety regulations.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support the rehabilitation and positive change mission of the establishment.
* Work on commercial or industrial heating and water systems, applying your knowledge of plumbing and heating to maintain and improve facility operations.
Qualifications
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with any combination of the following:
* Two years’ experience working in a role as a plumber or equivalent.
* Be familiar with and able to work to Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements.
* Experience working on commercial or industrial heating and water systems.
* Good working knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements.
* Plumber qualified to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and heating) and NVQ level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent.
* Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
* Good Health & Safety knowledge.
