Job/Position Title: HR Business Partner

Direct Supervisor: HR Manager

Business Unit / Area: Human Resources

Deputy: HR Advisor / HR Administrator


Brief Description

Deliver a proactive, hands‑on HR service at your local site, partnering with managers to drive engagement, compliance, and operational excellence. Act as a key link between the HR Manager and site leadership teams, ensuring consistent HR practices and supporting strategic people initiatives.


Primary Accountabilities

* Employee Relations (ER) Casework – Manage ER cases (disciplinary, grievance, absence, redundancy) in line with UK law and company policy; coach managers to handle issues effectively. (20%)
* Policy & Process Compliance – Monitor and update HR policies and procedures; ensure consistent application and compliance across all sites. (15%)
* Benefits & Payroll Support – Provide first‑line advice on benefits; support payroll input accuracy and maintain records. (10%)
* Training & Development – Conduct training needs analysis; coordinate training plans and compliance tracking. (10%)
* Recruitment & Onboarding – Manage end‑to‑end recruitment for assigned roles; deliver onboarding and induction programmes. (10%)
* Workforce Planning & Labour Monitoring – Track permanent and temporary labour usage; support cost control and agency management. (10%)
* Projects & Change Initiatives – Support HR Manager in implementing HR projects, engagement programmes, and organisational changes. (10%)
* Data & Reporting – Maintain HRIS accuracy (SuccessFactors/Kronos); produce reports for HR Manager and SLT. (10%)
* General HR Support – Provide guidance to managers and employees on HR queries, ensuring timely resolution. (5%)

* Multi‑shift manufacturing and commercial functions.

* Balancing operational HR delivery with project work.
* Managing ER cases in a fast‑paced, multi‑shift environment.
* Ensuring data accuracy and compliance under tight deadlines.

Staffing Responsibility

Positions reporting directly and indirectly to the incumbent:

* HR Advisor / HR Administrator (Deputy)
* Other HR roles as determined by business needs.


Main Units or Functions Influence

Site headcount & payroll: approximately 250 employees.

Recruitment spend: annual agency fees / recruitment budget (e.g., £X).

Training & Development budget: annual training spend (e.g., £X).

Absence management: site absence rate (%) and associated cost impact.


Job Profile

Qualifications & Education:

* CIPD Level 5 (or working toward).
* Strong ER experience and knowledge of UK employment law.
* 3–5 years in HR generalist or business partner roles.
* Experience with HRIS (SuccessFactors/Kronos) and payroll processes.

Languages:

* English – 100 % fluent.

Experience Details:

* Generalist HR across multi‑site operations – 3–5+ years.
* Complex ER casework (UK employment law) – 3+ years.
* HRIS (SAP SuccessFactors/Kronos), reporting & analytics – 1–3+ years.
* Payroll input/validation & benefits administration – 1–3+ years.

Working Conditions:

* Physical effort: Predominantly office‑based with regular site walks/meetings.
* Physical environment: Manufacturing environment (PPE areas as needed) across two sites.
* Sensory attention: Sustained attention to detail for data accuracy, policy interpretation, ER documentation.
* Mental stress: Periods of high volume around payroll cut‑offs, peak ER activity, audits; occasional out‑of‑hours escalations.
