Purpose of the Role
As the Design Engineering Lead for this leading Consumer Electronics Brand client you will be responsible for building and leading a consistent, compliant and high‑performing engineering function across all regions, driving the development of global engineering standards, supporting market teams with permanent fixture requests, and ensuring all technical solutions meet our client’s quality, sustainability and feasibility requirements.
This role will act as the central point for design engineering excellence across EMEA, India, APAC and Australia, ensuring that all markets have the tools, support, and processes required to deliver consistently and at speed.
This role operates on a blended basis between the local HH Global office, client/vendor site(s) and home as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
Build and Lead a Global Engineering Function
* Establish a global engineering operating model supported by clear roles, standards and workflows
* Develop and embed engineering frameworks that ensure consistency, compliance and best‑in‑class delivery across all markets
* Create and maintain a global library of engineering guidelines, technical documentation, templates and SOPs
Ensure Global Engineering Support for All Permanent Fixture Requests
* Provide every market with strong, centralized engineering support for permanent fixture development
* Ensure all requests meet retailer specific requirements, local regulations, and global standards
* Create a scalable support model and prioritisation system that responds quickly to regional needs
Improve Control, Quality and Efficiency Across Engineering Processes
* Review and optimise key processes such as CAPA, prototyping and engineering approvals
* Implement quality gates, clear ownership, and improved control measures while preserving speed and agility
* Introduce transparent tracking tools and reporting to show progress, risks and improvements
Embed Engineering Early in Client Conversations
* Partner with Account Management and Project teams to ensure Engineering is consulted at the earliest stage in planning and briefing
* Work directly with client stakeholders to shape feasible, high‑quality solutions from the outset
* Attend relevant client/kick‑off meetings to provide technical guidance and prevent rework later in the process
Adapt and Develop Fixture & Display Designs for Regional Markets
* Lead the adaptation of global fixture designs for regional requirements, especially across India and APAC
* Apply design for manufacture (DFM) principles to ensure solutions are cost‑effective, feasible and scalable
* Maintain retailer specification databases and provide engineering input into creative and design teams
Champion Sustainability, Feasibility and Compliance
* Ensure all engineering outputs align with the client’s sustainability goals and global compliance standards
* Conduct feasibility checks on materials, digital integrations and installation considerations
* Work with sourcing, design and installation teams to explore innovative and sustainable approaches
Knowledge, Skills + Experience
* Strong design engineering background with experience across materials including wood, metal, plastics and digital components
* Skilled in CAD, SolidWorks and PDM; ability to sketch and communicate concepts clearly
* Experience working with global retailers and familiarity with regional guidelines (ideally India/APAC)
* Strong understanding of retail fixture engineering, permanent display development and installation requirements
* Proven ability to lead technical processes, create frameworks and drive operational consistency
* Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast‑paced rollout environment
* Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑cultural teams across multiple time zones
