Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Yorkshire Fisheries Team as the Great Yorkshire Rivers (GYR) Technical Specialist. The role will provide the technical focus for the GYR project, working closely with partners and external stakeholders. Candidates may come from a fisheries or engineering background and should have an interest in delivering fish passage improvements across the county.
Responsibilities
* Lead technical activities for the GYR project, ensuring high quality technical focus.
* Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key strategic partners, stakeholders, delivery partners and colleagues across the Environment Agency.
* Identify opportunities and emerging risks, applying project and programme management skills.
* Lead the GYR Technical Working Group to drive technical excellence in barrier removal and other fish passage solutions, sharing best practice and expanding knowledge throughout the partner community.
* Develop and implement the GYR Science and Monitoring Strategy and progress maintenance standards to secure a lasting legacy for the project.
* Provide incident management support, remaining available to respond to incidents and deliver business continuity.
* Travel across Yorkshire for site visits, meetings and collaborative work; overnight stays may be required.
* Participate in CPD to develop and further specialism qualifications.
Qualifications
* Relevant technical knowledge and experience in fish passage (either fisheries or asset construction/management).
* Project and programme management experience, ability to identify opportunities and manage emerging risks.
* Strong ability to build and develop working relationships with strategic partners and stakeholders.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills.
* Well organised, computer literate, able to meet tight deadlines.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
* Valid Full UK Driving Licence.
