About the role:

As a Consulting Engineer at Sword, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering high-impact technical solutions across diverse environments. This is a hands-on position that blends deep technical expertise with strategic thinking, offering the opportunity to lead complex deployments, shape low-level designs, and provide expert consultancy to clients. You’ll be the go-to authority for troubleshooting and escalation, working on cutting-edge network and security technologies. Beyond the technical scope, this role offers the chance to mentor others, influence project outcomes, and be part of a collaborative team that values innovation and ownership. Key Responsibilities:

* Lead end-to-end project delivery, from design through to implementation, while maintaining clear and effective communication throughout
* Take full ownership of technical issues, ensuring thorough diagnosis and resolution
* Deliver project engineering services, including (but not limited to) low-level design, implementation, and consultancy
* Provide expert-level support to clients and serve as an internal escalation point for complex support incidents
* Troubleshoot and resolve network and security-related issues with precision and efficiency
* Mentor and support the development of other team members

Here are the key skills and experience relevant to this role:

Key Responsibilities:

* Minimum CCNP level Cisco certification
* Knowledge and experience of deploying at least 5 of the following in a production environment
* Cisco Routers (and associated protocols such as EIGRP, OSPG, BGP)
* Cisco Switches (and associated technologies such as VTP, STP, VSS)
* Cisco Datacentre Switching (Nexus and associated technologies such as VPC, VDC)
* Cisco Wireless, Cisco Firewalls (ASA, or Firepower)
* Cisco Voice/IPT, Cisco SDWAN, Cisco ISE
* Azure and AWS cloud environments
* Palo Alto Firewalls
* Cisco Meraki
* You will also be required to pass the Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) Security Clearance
