We are a highly rated GP surgery based in the Priorswoodarea of Taunton with a practice list of 6400 patients. Our premises areexcellent, with a newly built extension 3 large treatment rooms, 9 clinicrooms, staff room, downstairs tea bar and ample on site free parking.
A teaching practice, with GP registrars, medical and nursestudents there is opportunity for clinical skills advancement and training withmonthly educational/clinical/nurse team meetings.
Reporting to and supported by the lead ANP nurse you willwork alongside our GPs, Clinical Pharmacists and Nursing Team.
This is a temporary position for a minimum of 16 hours aweek. If you would like up to full time work this will be considered.

Lyngford ParkSurgery is a well organised practice on the outskirts of Taunton town. The practicemultidisciplinary team includes 5 GPs (3 GP partners), lead ANP nurse, 2practice nurses, HCA, trainee nurse associate, 2 clinical pharmacists andpharmacy technician, plus reception and admin team. We have additionalhealthcare professionals who work on site with us providing a range of servicesfrom physiotherapy, MSK and a paediatric mental health support worker.

You would besupported by Sam Mcloughlin, lead nurse, who has extensive experience in longterms condition care and is a qualified Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Sam has adual role as PCN lead nurse in West Somerset.
We use EMIS asour clinical software and full training will be given if required.
We are aninclusive team, starting each day with a 10 minute huddle in reception for allclinicians and non-clinical staff. Hold monthly team and multidisciplinary teammeetings and away days. In July we hosted a practice open day for patients andthe local community in conjunction with the Patient Participation Group.

Job Responsibilities:
Assisting in and performing routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs e.g. venepuncture, temperature, height and weight, body mass index, blood pressure, ECG, wound care such as dressings and suture removal
* Obtaining specimens e.g. urine testing as instructed and completing appropriate laboratory forms
* Administering flu vaccinations and any other agreed injections
* Assisting GPs while patients undergo minor surgery
* Participating in anti-coagulation monitoring
* Promoting healthy lifestyle advice
* INR monitoring service and use of INR Star software
* Maintaining accurate clinical records
* Ensuring practice nurse is advised of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks
* Maintaining GP and nurse rooms, stocking and rotating items as required and maintaining general tidiness and cleanliness
* Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs according to the Practice Infection Control and Cold Chain protocol, guidelines and policies
* Complete regular legionella testing of water temperature according to guidelines, protocol and policies
* Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by a clinician
* Completing regular stock checks of clinical consumables, ordering and unpacking deliveries.

Qualifications
* Basic literacy and numeracy skills
* Experience in entering data into clinical computer system
* Experience in primary care

* Understanding patient needs and the role of the HCA/NA in primary care

* Experienced in carrying out the clinical tasks set out in job description
* Aware of the need for confidentiality and information governance
