Responsibilities Teach introductory to advanced undergraduate computer science content, including programming and programming languages, software development tools and techniques, application and analysis of data structures and algorithms, and select cybersecurity topics, depending on candidate’s background and experience; demonstrate thoughtful engagement with AI tools as they impact the industry. Serve as an academic advisor to department students. In addition to teaching responsibilities, maintain active scholarship and contribute to departmental and institutional initiatives. Qualifications PhD or commensurate doctorate strongly preferred, in Computer Science or a related field, or Master’s degree with relevant industry experience. Candidates must evidence the potential for strong classroom teaching. The Program Messiah University’s Computing, Mathematics and Physics Department offers the following undergraduate degrees: BS in Cybersecurity, BS in Computer Science, BA in Computer Science with Secondary Teaching Certification, BS in Software Development, BA in Digital Media, BA in Mathematics, BA in Mathematics with Secondary Teaching Certification, BS in Actuarial Science, BS in Data Science, BS in Physics, BA in Physics, BA in Physics with Secondary Teaching Certification, and minors in computer science, cybersecurity, data science, mathematics, physics, statistics and web development. We currently have more than 120 students in our computing programs. The computer science and software development majors include a required internship with established partners, and our sought-after graduates have a high job placement rate. The Department The department includes 12 full-time faculty and administrative and laboratory support staff.
