Quantity Surveyor
The Quantity Surveyor will provide commercial support to project teams, maintain commercial information and ensure compliance with contractual requirements and the Company’s ‘Three Pillar’ objectives. The role involves liaising with customer representatives and third parties on commercial matters, including variations, claims and additional payments.
Projects range from £200k to over £10 m, requiring a focus on cost efficiency, commercial analysis and risk mitigation.
Key Responsibilities
* Reporting
o Ensure robust, accurate and timely cost and value reporting at both project and business unit levels
o Ensure accurate cash‑flow reporting
o Carry out cost management, including forecasting
o Update the monthly CVR, cost and commercial plans
* Processes
o Help ensure internal commercial processes are adhered to across the business unit
o Actively seek to improve processes and procedures
o Understand JV/Alliance processes and assist in their development and improvement
* External relationships
o Ensure contract terms and conditions protect Barhale and identify commercial risks
o Engage the supply chain appropriately within the correct contract terms
o Build and maintain good client relationships
o Be responsible for subcontract letting, negotiation and financial accounting
o Prepare payment applications
o Liaise with client representatives on commercial issues, including variations, claims and additional payments
* Internal relationships
o Facilitate effective interaction between the Commercial Team and operational site teams
o Work with site management to forecast spend and cash recovery, ensuring alignment with targets
o Share best practices and advise site teams on cost management
* Key measures and targets
o Accurate monthly forecasting
o Ability to challenge resources and costs
o Maintain deadlines in line with the monthly commercial calendar

Essential Qualifications
* Previous experience in the construction industry
* HND/degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying
* Familiarity with ICE/NEC forms of contract and knowledge of Construction Law
* Commercial management and procurement of subcontractors (meeting chairing, measurement, control cycle, certificates, accruals)
* Good knowledge of monthly reporting and earned value analysis
* Experience in estimation and cost analysis
* Excellent communication, numeric and computer literacy; proficient in Microsoft Office
* Excellent organisation and time‑management skills, ability to work to tight deadlines
* Ability to work effectively in a team, delegate, and work independently
Desirable
* Member of RICS or other relevant professional body, or working towards it
* CSCS card
