Location: Nottingham & Nottinghamshire
Contract type: Temporary ongoing day‑time shifts
Hourly rate: £16 per hour, up to £17 per hour (chef level dependent)
We are looking to add DBS chefs of all levels to support school, nursery and other children’s education facilities for the new term in January 2026. As a DBS chef you will cook and prepare fresh, nutritious meals for children of all ages, covering holiday, sickness and increased business demand across multiple contract catering environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Cook and prepare fresh nutritious food for children in schools and nurseries.
* Cover holiday, sickness and other ad‑hoc shifts as required.
* Work within contract catering environments, ensuring compliance with dietary requirements.
* Participate in some serving duties and maintain contact with children.
* Manage stock and ordering, and oversee a small team when necessary.
Working Hours & Conditions
Shifts may cover Monday to Friday from around 7/8 am until 3/4 pm, with weekends off at many sites. Flexible hours and weekend work are available to build your total hours. Working locations extend from Clifton/Cotgrave up to Mansfield, Sutton in Ashfield, Retford, Bulwell, Strelly, Newark, Grantham and Lincoln.
Requirements
* Possess an Enhanced DBS certificate dated within the last 12 months.
* Extremely strong attention to detail.
* Knowledge of stock management and ordering.
* Ability to work in various environments and cover last‑minute sickness requests.
* Experience managing small teams and working under pressure.
* Flexible diary management and willingness to cover different shifts.
* Professional cookery qualification: City & Guilds 706/1, 706/2 or equivalent.
* At least 2 years background working as a chef, with a Senior Chef De‑Partie level or above.
* Own chef whites and knives.
