About the role
The Pharmacy Assistant Apprentice will support the specialised compounding pharmacy, ensuring prescriptions are accurately dispensed and dispatched, handling stock, assisting with medication preparation, and responding to customer queries. The role focuses primarily on online pharmacy services, with some patient-facing duties facilitated through a partner pharmacy.
Key responsibilities
* Support dispensing and dispatching of prescriptions for the online pharmacy.
* Assist with preparation and compounding of bespoke medications on a named-patient basis under supervision.
* Handle stock, deliveries and maintain accurate records.
* Use pharmacy systems to process prescriptions and maintain patient information.
* Respond to patient and customer queries via email and telephone.
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness, health and safety, and confidentiality.
* Work closely with the pharmacy team to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient service delivery.
Qualifications
* Genuine interest in healthcare, pharmacy, and precision-based medication preparation.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow processes accurately.
* Ability to work well in a fast-paced and highly regulated environment.
* Reliable, punctual, and professional.
* Basic IT and administrative skills.
* GCSEs at A-C or 4-9 or equivalent; GCSE in Maths and English desired but not essential.
* Commitment to contracted working hours and guided learning hours.
Training & Apprenticeship
Apprentices will complete a Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant Apprenticeship (GCSE) alongside the role. Training is delivered through blended learning over a typical 15-month duration. The apprenticeship includes Pharmacy Services Assistant Level 2 and Functional Skills as required. Full support and training will be provided throughout the programme.
