Brockenhurst College has an opportunity for a Lecturer in Art and Design to join their dedicated and enthusiastic team on a part time basis to cover maternity leave. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £31,930 to £42,454 pro rata per annum DOE. (Unqualified teachers £25,297 to £31,930 pro rata per annum.)We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year.

We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.About the role:As the Lecturer in Art and Design you will continually improve the learning experience and achievement of students through effective teaching.Responsibilities as our Lecturer in Art and Design will include:Teaching on courses as agreed with the Head of Curriculum, BTEC Level 3 Art and Design, and CTEC Level 2 Art and Design, although courses may be subject to change within Art and Design.Provide pastoral support where required.Acting as Course Leader, when requestedPreparing and marking student work, monitoring progress towards individual targets, keeping records and providing timely reports/reviews to students, parents, employers and College managers, as appropriateWorking closely with other colleagues to respond to the needs of studentsPaying due attention to the principles of inclusive learning including:individual learning stylessupport for students with learning difficulties and disabilitiesextension resources/activities for students of higher ability;general resources, including the use of Information Learning Technology.Contributing to the design, delivery and future planning and development of the curriculumContributing to the teaching/learning resource bank for the relevant subject/courseMaintain an up-to-date knowledge of developments in the relevant subject/courseDeveloping and maintaining effective external links related to the delivery of the subject/course and representing the College at relevant meetings.Organise and participate in relevant visits, field trips etc.Attend and contribute to relevant meetings, including Enrolment/Open Events and Parents' Evening, as appropriate.Advise and assist the Head of Department and other team members in all matters related to the delivery of subject specialisms.Participate, as a team member, in the development of teaching methods and strategies towards an ethos of continuous improvement.Contribute to the self-assessment process and take responsibility for relevant actions and targets in the development plan for the curriculum area.Participate in the College's Lesson Observation Scheme.Undertake professional development and training to contribute to individual and College development.Undertake such duties as may be reasonably requested from time to time.As our Lecturer in Art & Design, you'll ideally have:A Degree or equivalent professional qualification in the relevant subject areaAppropriate teacher training qualification (or working towards this)Excellent teaching skillsStrong knowledge of Art & Design Theory, knowledge and delivery of theoretical units on vocational programmes essentialsHigh level practical skills in the areas of Art and DesignAble to develop effective learning resourcesKnowledge and understanding of current developments in the Art and Design areaKnowledge of appropriate health and safety requirementsSupportive and positive approach to teachingEmpathy with and a strong commitment to meeting the needs of individual studentsBenefits:37 days leave plus bank holidays (pro rata for part time staff)Access to our Employee Assistance Programme provided externally to the College.
