We are seeking an enthusiastic nurse aiming to further develop their clinical skills in Cath Labs, with recent experience of working in an acute cath lab setting.
The job can be physically demanding and you must be able to stand for long periods in the lab wearing lead protection. Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills are essential. Working alongside the current Band 6 and Band 7 team you will help mould the future development of the service to include of 24/7 primary PCI, complex structural and complex EP work. The role will involve participation in the 24/7 Primary PCI service with an on-call commitment.
You will join our team of experienced nurses working in our catheterisation labs. The clinical environment can be challenging and rapidly changing with high acuity patients. The nursing staff work closely alongside the multidisciplinary team to provide high standards of evidence-based care. There is a strong focus on developing clinical practice and professional development and contribute to a research culture within the nursing team to identify current knowledge and deliver evidence-based care. Training will be provided, and further academic study is encouraged and supported.

3. Intravenous cannulation
4. Administration of medication and treatments within Procedures for the Ordering, Prescribing and Administration of Medication Guidelines
5. Administration and management of conscious sedation.
6. Enhanced levels of manual dexterity and accuracy pertaining to clinical skills
7. Competence in providing second operator role in cardiac catheterisation and coronary angioplasty
8. Participation in PCI (Primary Coronary Intervention) on call service.
9. Effective communication skills, especially where patient ability to do so is compromised
10. Ability to disseminate contentious and delicate information appropriately and maintain confidentiality
11. Ability to recognise deteriorating patients and escalate or support accordingly
12. Enhanced IT skills

We are one of the largest Cath Lab Centres in the UK, and have a reputation worldwide for clinical, teaching and research excellence. The Cardiac Catheter Laboratory is part of a tertiary centre, which incorporates an extensive referral area, offering a 24 hour Primary Myocardial Infarction service. The Cath labs consists of 3 Cath Labs, 1 hybrid theatre and has been steadily expanding over the years achieving a high profile within the organisation due to the provision of excellent standards of patient care and the delivery of a world class service. We provide a wide range of invasive and non-invasive procedures.
