The Role
The Senior Cash and Banking Controller works with the Cash and Banking Manager as a subject matter expert and is responsible for ensuring the cash management of the properties is managed in an effective and timely manner, in accordance with Client requirements and RICS Client Monies regulations.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure high standards and service levels for all Cash and Banking services as required by the Client;
2. Monitor and allocate received cash, identify source funds, and ensure all sums are posted to the correct accounts within 24 hours; resolve unidentifiable items and review bank reconciliations;
3. Make timely payments, ensuring bank accounts are not overdrawn;
4. Collaborate with surveyors, Clients, and team members;
5. Manage cash and banking software, including file outputs and inputs;
6. Support contractual compliance, including SLAs and KPIs for BNPPRE;
7. Continuously improve financial management processes in line with legislation;
8. Mentor and role model for the Cash and Banking team, providing coaching and support;
9. Work with internal audit and compliance to meet all control requirements;
10. Participate in and monitor the effectiveness of controls;
11. Manage existing Client and stakeholder relationships;
12. Build internal and external networks;
13. Handle a broad range of projects, consulting senior colleagues or external specialists on complex issues;
14. Specialize in one aspect of the discipline with broad knowledge of related principles and practices;
15. Enhance BNP Paribas Real Estate’s reputation through successful delivery;
16. Work with management to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and control of Cash and Banking operations;
17. Serve as the main contact for Clients, surveyors, and relevant parties regarding cash and banking services;
18. Ensure services are delivered according to contract;
19. Advise team members on client monies management;
20. Ensure Quality Assurance reviews are completed and signed off;
21. Assist with internal and external audits of financial information, procedures, and controls.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Qualified or part-qualified in a recognized cash and banking or accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA) or qualified through experience;
* GCSE qualifications including Maths and English;
Experience / Person Specification
* Strong numeracy, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills;
* Experience in a cash and banking team within property management or similar;
* Experience in client monies management, financial operations, and controls;
* Tenacious, presentable, assertive, adaptable, self-aware, motivated, and professional;
* Conscientious with understanding of client monies and data protection;
* Committed to excellent customer service and meeting deadlines;
* Commercially astute, innovative, solutions-oriented;
* Organized, methodical, able to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines;
* Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with property management and accounting packages (e.g., Trace Tramps, Yardi Propware, Voyager, Qube Horizon) is advantageous.
