The closing date is 14 June 2026.

Beechwood Ward at Parklands Hospital is a specialist assessment and treatment inpatient service for older adults with functional mental health needs, including depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. The ward provides a safe, therapeutic environment, supported by a dedicated garden and outdoor seating area for patients and visitors, promoting wellbeing and recovery.

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Band 6 Charge Nurse to provide strong clinical leadership, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality, person‑centred care. The post holder will play a key role in coordinating the multidisciplinary team, supporting staff development and maintaining a safe, responsive and recovery‑focused environment in line with Trust and CQC standards.

This role offers an exciting opportunity for Registered Mental Health Nurses, as well as general or dual‑trained nurses, who are passionate about enhancing the physical health provision within a mental health inpatient setting. You will be supported to develop your skills in delivering holistic care that addresses both mental and physical health needs, helping to drive forward improvements in patient outcomes and experience.

Main duties of the job

* Take part in clinical and management supervision and attend all developmental training sessions.
* Take charge of a ward from time to time as allocated.
* Adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct at all times.
* Exercise leadership within the service by ensuring sound organisation, good communication and relationships within the nursing team under the guidance and supervision of the Ward Manager and Nurse Team Leader.
* Inform the Ward Manager and/or Nurse Team Leaders of any specific clinical activity as appropriate.
* Inform the Ward Manager and/or Nurse Team Leaders of any professional issues as necessary.
* Report to, or assist/advise the Ward Manager and/or Nurse Team Leaders of any matters of complaint.
