The Role

Taking ownership of maintaining the property. Supports the maintenance operations of a hotel, ensuring that all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems are functioning efficiently.

The Maintenance Manager will also ensure the hotel is compliant in all aspects for Health & Safety, all the servicing is in date and compliant throughout the hotel.

You’ll be responsible for day-to-day maintenance, small refurbishments, inspections, and repairs

Key Responsibilities

* You'll be responsible for all maintenance tasks within the hotel, including repairs, upgrades, and preventive maintenance. Ensuring that all areas of the property, from guest rooms to common areas, meet the hotel's standards of cleanliness, functionality, and aesthetics.

* You'll be trusted to ensure that all systems and equipment in the hotel, such as HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and kitchen equipment, are properly maintained and in good working order. you'll also be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations and protocols to protect guests, staff, and the property itself.

* You will conduct regular inspections of the hotel to identify any maintenance issues or potential problems. By proactively addressing maintenance needs, proactively preventing costly repairs and downtime, ensuring that the property remains in top condition for guests.

* Importantly, you'll work closely with other departments, such as housekeeping, front office, to address maintenance issues that may impact the guest experience. By coordinating efforts and communication across departments, you'll ensure a seamless and enjoyable stay for guests while maintaining the hotel's reputation for quality and service.

* To work closely with the Hotel Manager to ensure the hotel is compliant and to the best standard it can be.

* Support the operations manager with refurbishments, fit-outs, and reactive maintenance projects. And sourcing/project managing subcontractors.

* Maintain records of maintenance activities, equipment logs, and preventive maintenance schedules.

* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and hotel brand standards.

Day to Day Tasks

* Carry out general property maintenance, repairs, and refurbishments to a high standard.

* Ensure all hotel staff are familiar with locations and procedures for basic shut off equipment and supplies, to maintain safety of hotel guests and staff.

* Demonstrate excellent technical skills, safety procedures, and customer service standards.

* Ensure contractors working onsite carry out work as required and adhere to Health and Safety Policy.

* Keep accurate maintenance logs, job records, and communicate updates to the property management team.

* Handle and manage property keys securely.

* Identify opportunities to improve EPC ratings through practical property improvements. Support and enforce hotel policies, including sustainability and energy-saving initiatives.

* Maintain and care for company tools, equipment and property.

* Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations in a timely manner with quality completion on all works.

* Respond to emergency maintenance issues and support hotel operations during off-hours as needed.

Skills & Experience Required

* Proven experience in general property maintenance and/or hospitality, building repairs, or similar trade role (minimum 2 years)

Strong skills as follows desirable:

* Carpentry and joinery

* Basic plumbing (leaks, taps, toilets, radiators, etc.)

* Basic electrical repairs (sockets, lighting, fuse board checks, etc.)

* Painting and decorating

* Plastering and patch repairs

* Tiling and grouting

* Basic appliance repairs and installations

* Excellent problem-solving skills and a “can-do” attitude.

* Ability to work independently, manage workload, and communicate clearly.

* Good attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.

* Good qualifed understanding of property compliance (gas safety, fire alarms, PAT testing, etc.) is advantageous.

What do we need from you?

Competent knowledge of compliance requirements, safety legislation, and building systems.

Skilled in contractor and supplier management, with the ability to negotiate and maintain strong working relationships.

Excellent organisational and communication skills, with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.

Physically fit and able as manual labouring and working at heights will be required

PC/IT literate and competent working with property management systems

Flexibility to work shifts and be on call as needed.

Please note a DBS background check will be required for the successful applicant.

40hrs per week - Monday to Friday (hours can be flexible)
