Join Our Team as a Small animal Veterinary Surgeon
We are a new (open for 10 months), independent veterinary practice based in Hartlebury, Worcestershire, dedicated to providing exceptional care to our patients and a supportive environment for our team. Our practice follows a fear-free ethos, and Helen, the owner, is a Fear Free accredited vet. We are here to ensure a stress-free experience for both pets and their owners. We are very involved with the local community. We love attending community days out, and you would be welcome to join in too.
Our Team:
You'll be joining a small, friendly, and supportive team who genuinely enjoy working together. Led by our experienced practice owner and vet, Helen, we're proud of the collaborative and caring environment we've built. Our team includes a dedicated Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN), a compassionate Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA), a helpful receptionist, and an organised practice manager — all committed to making each day run smoothly and ensuring the best care for our patients. We value open communication, mutual respect, and a shared passion for animal welfare.
Position Details:
* Work Schedule: ideally 2 days a week, 9am to 6pm (30-minute lunch break), although other work patterns open to discussion.
* Saturday Mornings: 1 in 2 or 1 in 3, 9am to 12 noon
* Out of Hours: Willingness to be on-call for in-patients only one or two evenings a week advantageous
* Sole Charge: 1 day a week and on Saturdays.
* Focus: We treat all pet mammals – dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats etc
* Consults: 20-minute consults with admin time built into the day
Skills Required:
* Confident in both consults, diagnostics, and surgery
* Good communication skills with clients and staff
* Ability to work together with clients to achieve the best patient outcome

* Willingness to become a Fear-Free certified professional and to follow the practice ethos for this.
Our Facilities:
* Great premises with lots of natural light, with separate cat and dog waiting areas, consult rooms and kennels
* Full Idexx diagnostic lab including Sedivue
* Digital x-ray, including dental x-ray
* Ultrasound
* Capnography used on all GA procedures
* Lupa computer software for efficient note-taking during consultations, so you never forget a conversation again
