Senior Associate - Legal & Compliance (Maternity Cover)
Location: West London (Fully Office-Based)
Salary: £29,000 per annum
We are seeking a Senior Associate to join a busy Legal & Compliance team on a maternity cover contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with a legal or compliance background to gain broad exposure across regulatory, advisory, and operational legal matters within a financial services environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Legal & Compliance, you will support the Legal & Compliance function by coordinating with external advisors and providing guidance on legal and regulatory matters across the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Liaise with external advisors on legal and regulatory compliance matters
* Provide guidance to the business on routine legal and compliance queries
* Draft and review compliance policies, procedures, and controls
* Maintain regulatory correspondence registers and supporting documentation
* Respond to requests from courts, regulators, and enforcement agencies within required timeframes
* Conduct horizon scanning and map regulatory changes across the business
* Prepare updates and newsletters for Compliance, Business, and Operations teams
* Review legal court orders and support committee reporting processes
* Support oversight and monitoring activities across Legal & Compliance
* Approve financial promotions in line with regulatory standards
* Manage relationships with external legal panels and advisors
* Compile reports for senior management
* Support ad hoc legal and compliance projects
Key Skills & Experience
* Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
* Good administrative and communication abilities
* Strong research and problem-solving skills
* Solid understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Person Profile
* Graduate with a legal background (LPC preferred)
* Minimum 2 years' experience in legal, compliance, or regulatory roles
* Experience within financial services or banking is advantageous
* Able to work independently and collaboratively across teams
