About Network Rail High Speed – Operative Track Maintenance. We are introducing an Operative Track Maintenance role into the Singlewell team. You’ll help keep the nation moving every day by supporting essential maintenance to keep the railway running safely and smoothly for passengers and freight users.
As part of Network Rail High Speed Ltd, NRHS is responsible for operating and maintaining the UK\'s international high-speed railway (HS1). NRHS is privately financed under an agreement with HS1 Ltd and handles a diverse range of activities from railway maintenance to facilities management and retail. Our vision is to deliver the best High Speed rail customer experience.
Responsibilities
* Maintain, inspect and repair the track network (Permanent Way or P-Way) to keep the railway safe and efficient. Work involves rails, sleepers, ballast, drainage and ancillary structures.
* Work outdoors in all conditions, day or night, often transporting equipment across challenging terrain.
* Operate as part of a small team, providing lookout duties to keep the team safe and ensuring equipment is checked and ready for each shift.
* Support the team in maintaining equipment and travel between sites as required.
* Follow safety rules and instructions, remain calm under pressure, and be prepared to challenge unsafe situations when needed.
Your Skills and Qualifications
* Experience in an environment where safety is vital is preferred; not necessarily rail experience, as transferrable skills and behaviours are considered.
* Willingness to work shifts, including days, nights and weekends.
* Team player with good communication skills (in person and in writing).
* Proactive planning: punctuality, readiness of van and equipment, and anticipating team needs.
* Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and to stay focused while working near moving trains travelling at high speed.
* Keen to develop new skills and continuously learn; structured training provided.
* Ability to drive (Category B) to operate Network Rail vehicles and be within a 60-minute commute of the location.

Other Information
* Shifts involve a changing pattern including days, nights and weekends; outdoor working requirement.
* Drug and alcohol testing and pre-employment checks apply; medical, BPSS and safety prerequisites; hearing and eyesight examinations may be required.
* Driving licence (Category B) required to drive Network Rail vehicles.
* Within a 60-minute commute of the applying location.
