JOB PURPOSE :
This newly created role seeks to strengthen our dedicated finance team, primarily based in Selkirk, Scottish Borders. With the company expected to nearly triple in size over the next two years, this role offers significant opportunities for learning and growth.
We are looking for a recent school or college leaver, eager to start their career in finance. The ideal candidate is methodical, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic about learning.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
* Logging purchase ledger transactions and supplier reconciliation
* Coordinating with remote finance teams on trade and subcontractor payments
* Processing subcontractor claims with accuracy and proper Cognito sign-offs
* Communicating with contract managers regarding claims and payments
* Allocating cash receipts accurately to the sales ledger
* Managing monthly credit card spend and analysis
* Ensuring all entries on Sage are correctly coded
* Completing monthly ONS and CIS returns
* Supporting during annual audits and stocktakes
* Collaborating with the commercial team on stock counts and valuations
* Meeting key reporting deadlines
* Logging and reporting Corporate Sustainability data
* Identifying process improvement opportunities
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS :
* No prior accounting experience required, but a strong interest in accounting is essential
* Numerate, with GCSE Maths Grade 7 or above, or equivalent
* Organized, accurate, and logical in approach
* Proficient in Excel and Office 365
* Curious with a keen desire to learn
