About the Role
We are a well-established passive fire protection contractor based near Northampton with a growing workload and a strong pipeline of projects. We specialise in providing high-quality passive fire protection solutions, including fire stopping, fire doors, intumescent coatings, fire barriers, compartmentation and surveys, for clients across the UK, backed by industry accreditations such as FIRAS and BM TRADA.
As an Estimator, you will play a key role in pricing a variety of passive fire protection works and supporting the commercial team through accurate cost planning and tender submissions. This position offers excellent exposure to a diverse range of projects, from surveys and installations to compliance-driven passive fire protection works.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare accurate cost estimates for passive fire protection projects, including:

Fire stopping systems
*
Fire door installations and maintenance
*
Intumescent coatings and structural steel protection
*
Fire barriers and compartmentation works
*
Fire protection surveys and risk assessment actions
*
Review architectural and technical drawings, specifications, and project documents
*
Undertake detailed take-offs and quantify materials, labour, plant, and subcontractor costs
*
Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing
*
Maintain estimating records, tender documentation, and pricing databases
*
Liaise with operations and project teams for seamless transition from estimate to delivery
*
Manage multiple tenders simultaneously and meet pricing deadlines
*
Ensure compliance with industry standards and recognise potential risks in pricing
Skills & Experience Required
*
Previous experience within the passive fire protection industry (essential) — either estimating or a commercial role with exposure to passive fire protection works
*
Strong understanding of passive fire protection systems and how they are installed and specified
*
Competent in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
*
Excellent numeracy with strong analytical skills
*
Ability to work methodically and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
*
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
*
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software
