Are you a Naval Architect with a strong background in hydrodynamics, ship performance, or Paramarine modelling looking to support cutting-edge defence and maritime programmes?
This is an excellent opportunity to work on technically challenging projects involving manoeuvring, stability, seakeeping, resistance, propulsion, and hydrodynamic performance assessment using a combination of industry-standard and bespoke simulation tools.
The Role
Working as part of a highly collaborative technical team, you will provide specialist Naval Architecture expertise and hydrodynamic analysis support to defence customers across a range of maritime platforms.
The role will particularly suit individuals with experience using Paramarine, hydrodynamic modelling tools, or numerical simulation methods to assess vessel behaviour and performance.
You will contribute to both technical delivery and customer engagement activities, supporting the development of innovative engineering solutions across maritime and submarine programmes.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct Naval Architecture and hydrodynamic assessments for surface ships and submarines
* Support analysis activities relating to:
* Manoeuvring and control
* Dynamic and quasi-static stability
* Seakeeping
* Resistance and propulsion
* Utilise industry-standard and bespoke modelling/simulation tools, including Paramarine where applicable
* Analyse and interpret technical data to support engineering recommendations and customer outcomes
* Collaborate with customers and multidisciplinary engineering teams to define and deliver technical work packages
* Present technical findings within customer meetings, internal reviews, and external forums
* Contribute to bid support, planning activities, and technical task estimation
* Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement within technical delivery
* Strong background in Naval Architecture, hydrodynamics, or maritime engineering
* Experience assessing ship or submarine performance characteristics
* Familiarity with Paramarine and/or hydrodynamic simulation tools
* Good understanding of vessel stability, seakeeping, manoeuvring, or propulsion analysis
* Experience with data analysis and programming tools such as MATLAB or Python
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to present complex technical information clearly to customers and stakeholders
* Collaborative team player with strong organisational skills and attention to detail
