A well-regarded secondary school in Portsmouth is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Teacher of Maths to join its successful Mathematics department. About the Role As Teacher of Maths, you will teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of contributing to KS5 depending on experience and timetable. You will deliver a well-sequenced curriculum that develops: Secure mathematical understanding through clear explanation and careful modelling Fluency and accuracy through purposeful practice and regular retrieval Reasoning and problem-solving through structured questioning and guided application Confidence with mathematical language and methods across a broad range of topics Exam confidence through deliberate practice, targeted feedback and consistent routines Students study a broad and balanced curriculum including number, algebra, ratio, geometry, statistics and probability, building strong foundations for GCSE success. Lessons are structured to be both challenging and accessible, supporting learners with different starting points through effective scaffolding and stretch and challenge. The Maths Department The Maths department is supportive, well-organised and committed to strong outcomes. Teachers collaborate closely on planning, share resources and use common approaches to assessment so that students build knowledge and confidence over time.
