We are looking for a practice-based Phlebotomist to join our Nursing team for 15 hours per week, spread across 3-5 days.
Main duties of the job
Phlebotomists play a key role in patient care by collecting blood samples for testing, ensuring patient comfort and safety, and maintaining accurate records. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, enjoys working with people, and is comfortable in a clinical setting.

Job description
The role involves providing a high-quality, safe, and efficient phlebotomy service by collecting blood samples from patients professionally, timely, and compassionately. It supports diagnostic and treatment decisions across various clinical services.
Key Responsibilities
* Clinical Duties: Perform venepuncture safely following local protocols, identify patients correctly, label and handle samples accurately, respond to patient reactions, and maintain hygienic work areas.
* Patient Interaction: Treat patients with dignity and respect, provide reassurance, and maintain confidentiality.
* Record Keeping and Administration: Record procedures and patient information accurately on SystmOne.
* Teamwork and Communication: Collaborate with staff, communicate effectively, and participate in team meetings and service improvements.
* Health and Safety: Follow infection control policies, report incidents, and use PPE appropriately.
* Other Duties: Participate in training, support junior staff, and demonstrate procedures.
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience in healthcare settings like hospitals or GP practices.
* Experience dealing with patients aged 16+.
* Experience using SystmOne and supporting infection control.
Qualifications
* Recognised phlebotomy training certificate.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.
* First aid or basic life support certification.
* Additional healthcare qualifications are a plus.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This position requires a DBS check due to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, to screen for any criminal convictions.
