An exciting opportunity has become available to join Boeing Defence United Kingdom (BDUK) as an Assistant Commercial Manager in the Fixed Wing business unit. This is a full-time role based in Bristol, UK.
BDUK comprises of three business units: Fixed Wing, Vertical Lift and Digital. Each business unit commercial team supports contracts within the given portfolio: the majority of which tend to comprise long-term contracts for support services to Boeing platforms operated by UK armed forces, information services and synthetic training services.
About the role:
This is a non-line management role within the Fixed Wing commercial team. Principal responsibilities of the role include: -
1. Lead and participate in low to moderate complexity proposal development, negotiation, and execution of contractual agreements, including contract changes and amendments, with delegated signature or with oversight from the Commercial Team Lead or Head of Commercial.
2. Draft, review, interpret, and administer terms and conditions (ranging from simple to moderately complex) and other legally binding agreements, with appropriate guidance.
3. Support and lead internal coordination across functional areas (programme, finance, legal) to deliver commercial solutions aligned with strategic goals, typically working under direction from the Commercial Team Lead.
4. Anticipate, interpret, and mitigate commercial risks; summarise contractual issues and propose creative, risk-aware solutions, escalating higher-risk issues to the Commercial Team Lead or Head of Commercial.
5. Maintain effective commercial governance, ensuring compliance with Boeing Defence UK and corporate policies, applicable laws, and regulations.
6. Lead or support development and review of Statements of Work, often contributing under senior review.
7. Administer contracts and authorise company work in line with contractual requirements and corporate policy, within delegated authority levels.
8. Understand and apply value-for-money principles in support of customer needs while delivering against business objectives.

The Commercial function delivers value-adding business partnering in all phases of the contract lifecycle.
In this role you will support the portfolio with typical contract-management duties, commercial support and business judgment to optimise delivery, including leading or supporting contract changes and intercompany arrangements. You will work across Programme and Proposal teams in a matrix environment, contributing to continuous improvement and developing commercial skills over time while receiving guidance from senior colleagues. Demonstrable experience in areas such as contract management systems, proposals, negotiation, risk/opportunity management and relevant legislation and regulation is desirable.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
33. Demonstrable experience working in a matrix organisation
34. 1 to 2 years of experience supporting contract administration, procurement, commercial operations, or legal/commercial teams.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
35. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Finance, Contracts Management, Supply Chain, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
36. WCC qualification.
37. Experience in associated role is desirable; other commercial qualifications or willingness to work toward them will be considered.
38. Working experience 3 to 5 years within a defence or aerospace prime contractor, or equivalent.
